    The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Canada Andrzej Kurnicki paid a visit to the GTA just a week from the beginning of his mission.

    Ambassador started his visit by commemorating the victims of the Katyn Massacre and Smoleńsk tragedy at the Katyn Memorial in Toronto. Thereafter, Ambassador Kurnicki met Ontario PC party leader Patrick Brown and Ontario Liberal MPP Peter Milczyn He also visited the Copernicus Lodge, where he spoke to the Polish combatants and veterans. Shortly after that, the new Ambassador joined the largest Polish Festival in the world at the Roncesvalles and he was warmly welcomed by thousands of Polish-Canadians who gathered there to celebrate their Polish heritage. During the press conference with the Polish Media, Ambassador underlined the fact that Canada is an important partner of Poland and that he is looking forward to the further fruitful cooperation. Afterwards he met with the Polonia at a reception at the Polish Consulate in Toronto. He also awarded the Siberian Exile Cross to Irene Wallace and posthumously to Stanisław Wojtecki. The reception was also an opportunity to talk to the newly appointed Ambassador. On Sunday Ambassador Kurnicki finished his visit by attending Mass at the St. Maximilian Kolbe Mississauga Parish where he met with the Polish-Canadians living there.
