    Maria Nowotarska is one of the most distinguished Polish actresses. For over 60 years she has amazed people with her unique style of performing on stages around the world and creating for over 25 years Salon Poezji, Muzyki i Teatru in Toronto.

    On the 60th year of Maria Nowotarska’s artistic work, Salon invites you to celebrate this milestone with us.  For the very last time Maria Nowotarska will play “Helena – Rzecz o Modrzejewskiej”.  This spectacle opened up opportunities for Nowotarska to perform on stage in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London, Washington. Vancouver, Calgary, Krakow and Warsaw. The performance written by famous Polish Kazimierz Braun, showing the story about Helena Modjeska the most famous polish actress, beloved by both the Polish and Americans.


    The performance will be played on March 24th,  at 8 p.m.

    The spectacle will be translated into English.

     Maria Nowotarska

    After graduating from the State Drama School in Krakow, she started her career at the famous Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Krakow. During her artistic work she was working with famous Polish directors E. Axerem, K. Braun, K. Dejmek, B. Dąbrowski, B. Korzeniowski, R. Niewiarowicz, and R. Zioło.  She played numbers amazing roles such as "Harfiafka" in "Wyzwolenie", "Zosia" in "Damy i Huzarze", "Aniela" in "Śluby Panieńskie", "Maliczewska" in "Panna Maliczewska", "Elwira" in "Don Juan", "Kora" in "Noc Listopadowa", "Maryna" in "Wesele", "Lia" in "Za Kulisami", "Hrabina" in "Wesele Figara", "Fiora" in "Fiorenza", and in a Polish movies:  "Nad Niemnem",  "Między Ustami a Brzegiem Pucharu", "Kolory Kochania".  She also played in the TV Theatre in "Barbarzyńcy", "Świętoszek", "Iwanowie", "Klonowi Bracia", "Zapomniany Diabeł", Maria i Magdalena" etc.


    She came to Canada in 1990. Her experience and passion, let her create the Polish Theatre in Toronto – Salon Poezji, Muzyki I Teatru.  Quickly Salon became a very important part of polish artistic and cultural life for Polonia in Toronto.  For over 25 years Salon’s artists performed over 80 spectacles around the world.


    For her work Maria Nowotarska received a numbers of awards. In 1995 she got the “Woman of the Year”, in 2000 she got the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and in 2004 the Oder of Merit for Polish Culture.
