  • MILITARY SERVICE IN POLAND

  • Universal obligation to defend the Republic of Poland

The issue of fulfilling the duties that result from the universal obligation of the Polish citizens who reside permanently abroad to defend the Republic of Poland are regulated by the provisions of the Statute dated November 21, 1967 about the universal obligation of the defence of the RP (uniform text Dz. U. from 1992, No. 4, item 16).

According to the quoted Statute, the Polish citizen who is at the same time the citizen of another state is not a subject to the universal obligation to defend the Republic of Poland (art. 1, section 1).  In turn, the recruits considered capable to perform the military duty are not called to the active military service, if they reside permanently outside the RP (art. 44, section 1, item 1).
